Dave and Di’s Most Remarkable Trip! Canadians Dave and Di joined us aboard Bel Ami in May for a weeks worth of beach bar hopping and good times. Eager Beavers that they are, they decided to come to St. Thomas for a week of a land based vacation, staying at Max and Chris’s palatial estate high up on the hill overlooking Red Hook. We hooked up with them a day or so before the charter, getting a flat tire as we negotiated the steep hill. A couple of tire plugs and cigarette inflater and we were on our way. The first day aboard saw Dave get green at the gills with mal de mere, but he quickly overcame that with the “patch” and had no further problems rest of the trip. And What A Trip It Was!! Dave was celebrating his 60th birthday, and wanted to hit all the beach bars. So after a night a Christmas Cove on Great St. James Island, we headed over the Megan’s Bay, followed by White Bay on Jost, Cane Garden Bay on Tortola, The BeeLine beach bar on little Jost, Pirates Bight on Norman Island, Hurricane Hole for kayaking on St. John, into Coral Harbor for lunch at Skinny Legs, Overnight at Salt Pond Bay, next afternoon at ABI Beach Bar, Friday evening in Long Bay (Charlotte Amalie) at Tavern on the Waterfront (fabulous music), Saturday afternoon at Dinghy’s beach bar at Honeymoon Bay on Water Island, and finished off the trip with an evening Reggae concert (son of Bob Marley) Saturday night. Whew, what an itinerary. But the time flew by effortlessly, and a good time was had by all. We hope to see Dave and Di sometime again soon, perhaps in New Orleans, to take in some more great music.
